Why do preachers yell and speak to their audiences like they are angry or have a "Hitler" type tone of voice?

To Boomer: It is not my place to judge. I can say I would like to live like a king if I could do it with a inter-peace that I didn't get by any means of deceit or corruption. If God bless me with prosperity I will strive to be a good steward. As for those with self-serving motives I will leave that to the Lord for I believe he will deal with them appropriately and in a more personally moving way. Ego flexing in front people with less that you is definitely not the Lord's way.

I was just reading about the African Pentecost Preacher getting a new jet and a lot more preachers would be getting them also. What do you think about Plutocrat Preachers that build mansions, drive Bentleys and live extravagant lifestyles while the majority of their followers are struggling to get by?

To Jump: It is a matter of semantics. Dying to self in Christian ease is the complete surrender of self will to the will of Christ. For most surrender only comes after self gratification is attained. To love yourself is for the quasi-Christians; for scriptures tell us to love others and to love God. If loving self means to love the holy spirit within us then that is a different thing altogether.

To Ernestine: When Jesus was on the cross he told one of the other guys on a cross next to him that he would join him in paradise, today and all through the Bible it speaks of people going to heaven before the rapture. What I don't understand is - Jesus told the dude he would join him in paradise today but then when Jesus died he didn't go straight to heaven according to my understanding of the scriptures.Why was it that only Luke mentioned this dialog.

It seems my greatest downfall in life has been in trusting people who claim to be Christians but later ending up burning me in one way or another. I don't want to become cynical of all people but also don't want to be gullible just because someone claims to be a Christian. What's the right thing to do?

Three suggestions are - get professional help, change your environment, and most important convince yourself that prayer really works. I have an addiction to nicotine that I can't seem to break. I've tried pleading, praying, and promising to God to overcome this but just can't seem to beat it. Like any addiction, it doesn't satisfy but rather perpetuates more and more self abuse. What am I doing wrong that God won't take this burden from me?

To Dutch: When Christ states in the Bible we are to follow him, he was referring to his spiritual obedience to God not to his physical activities. Christ rode on a donkey, he traveled from town to town, he died on a cross for your sins. These are not things you should or could do as a lifestyle.
