To Parents:

The urge to create is equally strong in all children. Boys and Girls.
Its the imagination that counts.
Not skill.
You build whatever comes into your head, the way you want it.

The most important thing is to put the right material in their hands,
and let them create whatever appeals to them.

PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens

What is the purpose of civil government, according to the Bible? The purpose of civil government is, very simply, to be God's servant to restrain evil and reward good (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-14). Christians are (a) to pray for and obey governmental authority (1 Timothy 2:1-4), (b) unless it forbids what God requires or requires what God forbids, in which case Christians cannot submit, and some form of civil disobedience becomes inescapable (Acts 4:18-31, 5:17-29), (c) to influence government because all of life is under God's authority (Psalm 24:1; Psalm 83:18; Isaiah 42:8; Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Corinthians 10:5). In a participatory democracy, Christians are under obligation to participate in civil government (Matthew 22:21).

About Democracy

Before the Berlin Wall was taken down
I visited there, I stood on top of the wall.
I looked to the Socialist East Berlin side,
where there were no cars, no smiling people, empty storefront windows,
churches with broken out windows, guards in towers with guns,
razor wire fences, and poverty everywhere.
Then I looked to the West Berlin side,
where the streets were crowded with tourists, bustling businesses,
tour buses and cars everywhere, and happy people.

This experience made me appreciate the democracy we live in.
I guess that is why so many people from other countries want to come to America.
Don't let the Politicians and corporations kill the American dream.
Pray for America.
Do what you can to keep democracy alive in America;
the alternative is not pretty.

Do you really want your child to be a slave to the banks, the corporations, the government?
If you spend less than you earn; it will keep them in check.

About Education

Of the eighty-eight countries I have traveled to for study as a college student,
the "Semester at Sea" around-the-world program by far was the most life long,
life changing educational experience I have ever had in my life. I would challenge
any university on this planet to say they have a more diverse, or higher level of
educational experience than that offered in this program.

If Evolution is True

If evolution is true when did it stop? Have you seen any monkeys transform into a man lately? Have you seen any creatures from the sea come upon the land and grow into a dinosaur? Are there any reports of two atoms colliding and creating a new earth?

I can personally testify that when I asked Christ to come into my life that my world changed from that day forward. I have seen and experienced the supernatural power of God in my life and that of others.

It is easier for me to believe in creation than in evolution any day.

How to Catch a Wild Pig

To catch a wild pig the first thing is to start continuously placing corn in a pile on the same ground.  The pigs get in the habit of receiving the corn everyday at this spot so when a fence was built along side the corn they paid no attention. The keep eating. Another fence row was built behind the corn location and they continued to feed off the corn. Then another side of the fence was built and another but this time with only a gate for which they could come and go through to get to the free corn.  One day when all the pigs were in the pin eating the free food, the gate was closed and all the wild pigs were caught. An that my friends is how socialism and communism works in America and in the world. Then the free corn is rationed.

It doesn't matter how tough you think you are,
Nothing hits harder than life.
But it isn't about how hard you hit,
it's about how hard you can get hit and still keep moving forward.

Don't be one of those figures that say,
I'm not where I should be because,
of him or her or anybody.
Cowards do that,
and that ain't you.

Builder of a Nation

"He came to a country of wooden towns and left a nation of steel."

Thus did William Barton eulogize Andrew Carnegie, one of America's great capitalists.  But Carnegie refused to take credit for the vast industrial domain he had created.  His major contribution, he insisted, was the selection of capable lieutenants.  "It marks a big step in man's development," Carnegie declared, "when he comes to realize that other men can be called in to help him do a better job than he can do alone."  That statement is still as valid today as it was in those days of long ago.

A manager is measured by the staff he selects and develops, by his techniques for delegating authority and responsibility.  The most effective executive cannot achieve success alone, any more than Carnegie could.  His people, who should grow and progress along with him, are the foundation of his accomplishments.

Narcissism, in lay terms, basically means that a person is totally absorbed in self. The extreme narcissist is the center of his own universe (egocentric). To an extreme narcissist, people are things to be used. It usually starts with a significant emotional wound or a series of them culminating in a major trauma of separation/attachment. No matter how socially skilled an extreme narcissist is, he has a major attachment dysfunction. The extreme narcissist is frozen in childhood. He became emotionally stuck at the time of his major trauma of separation/attachment.

about Grace

If a child steals $10 from you,

through Grace you forgive them.

Does the child still owe you the $10 he took?

Should the child still be punished for his wrong-doing?

Yes and Yes

To not teach the child responsibility,

and the consequence of sin is not grace but rather negligence.

God will not be negligent with his children nor should you.

If you sin against someone should you wake up in the morning and say God forgives me and blow it off.

Is that the right thing to do,

or should you make the maximum effort of restitution to regain your joy and avoid the torment of sin?

Grace is not about being irresponsible.

You've heard of Maslow's 5 levels of motivation (Psses)

Physiological, Safety, Social, Esteem, Self-Actualization

Do you know the 5 levels of Bible-centric motivation for the Christian?

Learning

I can't get it.  It's to hard. It's boring.  I'm to busy.  What's the point, I'll never need to know that.  These are just a few of the reasons people come up with when challenged to learn or do something new.  By changing your perspective learning can become the most exciting thing you do.

When the people of Europe left their homes, families, jobs, and security to discover America they were pioneering into unknown territory hoping to have and improve their lives.  Learning is a form of pioneering for each individual born into this world.  Learning is like an adventure into an unknown world.  It can be exciting if you enjoy it or dreadful if you don't. The end result is the more you learn the better your life will be.  There is power and pleasure in knowledge.  The Bible is the first book of knowledge that will guide you to all understanding in this life.

Pacifist or Prayer

by Solo Standings

The preacher asks you to stand if you will pray, you've got to stand to keep from being singled out, so you do.  Will you, for real?  Can we petition the Lord with prayer?  Is praying all it's going to take, to turn this country around from its snowballing downward spiral course toward oblivion.  Will your children or grandchildren live in the United States of China?

Do you know how few people, take an interest in what their public lawyer (politician) is doing as their fiduciary representative?  If you hire a lawyer to represent you in a personal matter you would want to know what is going on and what is that rep doing.  If the rep screws up its going to cost you.  Do you think it is any different with the person you hire to represent you at the State or National level.

For the most part, the only people who try to communicate or persuade your Representative are the ones that want something from you.  What would happen if Christians and others started writing or emailing or using some other alternative of communication to express the satisfaction or discontent of their representatives.  The only time a politician is not going to follow the money is if their job is on the line.

The difference between a statesman and a politician is the statesman makes decisions that are best for the people represented, and the politician makes decisions that are best for his next election.  In the United States, the elected officials are supposed to be public servants, not the other way around.  So what are you going to do? pray a little, send a letter or two, take an interest for a moment.  Don't do something, just stand there.  It's your children that will suffer, not you.

Helpful Hint - To erase the immediate memory of a recent discussion or to interrupt the train of thought in an inappropriate discussion just begin asking questions or making statements that involve numbers and/or mathematics.  (doing this causes a person to use a different area of the brain) It also works in the opposite.

The Benefits of Prayer

by Solo Standings

When people tell me God spoke to them and told them, this or that, it makes me wonder. My understanding and experience hasn't been the same as those folks. Is it me, or is their definition of God different from mine. When I talk, pray, to God, he has never carried on a conversation with me. Yes, I do have thoughts that come to mind when I am praying about something but I don't claim them to be the voice of God. There was a time I thought the thoughts were, but after acting on them, learned it couldn't have been God speaking. It may be that God communicates with people using a spiritual voice inside their head but for me he responds differently.

God does answer questions and requests to him if given the opportunity. If you don't give him an outlet to communicate with you how can he respond? The reason I know that prayer works is due to method by which they are answered. For example, if a question about a certain issue becomes a concern and I pray about it, usually in a short amount of time the answer pops up in a sermon I hear or a message of some kind which I happen across. If I don't read the Bible or listen to a sermon or talk with other Christians or read Christian websites, I am not giving God a means to communicate with me to answer my questions. Every time this happens, which is often, it still amazes me. This is not the only way that my prayers are answered but it is a very convincing one.

Without prayer, I would have to rely on my own resources and in an imperfect world misinformation is abundant. What seems to be right is not always true or correct. When God says its right, you can believe it. The benefits of prayer are endless for those who God acknowledges as sincere in their faith. Pray today for tomorrow's answers.

(This is the short message.  I bet you could add to it..)

Habitual Sin

by Solo Standings

In the Old testament of the Bible it wasn't a sin until it was done, then Jesus comes along and tells you its a sin if you even think it. Well, that capped it, not a man, woman or child who ever walked this planet can claim to be sinless. One of the main advantages of teaching children about spiritual living is whatever sin is birthing in their life can be more easily addressed, than that of a person who has years of experience with their habitual sin. Is there anyway to overcome that one sin that has become an addiction in our lives? The short answer is to replace one (sinful) addiction with another (non-sinful) addiction. Can you imagine how cool this planet would be if everyone would redirect their sinful energies into something good and beneficial for themselves, and others? WOW

The answer to overcoming habitual sin is simple and so is the process. You've probably done it a hundred times already. Commit the drill – pray about it, throw all the paraphernalia in an unrecoverable trash location, declare it gone forever, and tell someone (only if you want the world to know). There are some things that are better left unsaid. You may even have to find new places to go and new people to hang out with. Okay so now you've gotten rid of the physical evidence, now for the mental part. Every sin ever committed began as a single thought. If you can devise a way to divert that single thought at the very moment it occurs, each and every time it occurs, the battle is won. Try this, make a commitment to yourself that whatever sinful thought comes to mind, you will do the opposite.

Quiting an addiction or habitual sin is quite easy, it is the not starting back that can be the challenge of your life. The Cool Christians Club recognizes how difficult it can be to leave behind that sin you have lived with for so many years. The one we say has helped us through difficult times and lifted our spirits, or at least given us some kind of pleasure for so long is not easily divorced. Talking and reading about how others have dealt with sins similar to yours, hopefully, will give you ideas and encouragement to make you stronger longer, mentally tough, and personally blessed. By taking the time to participate in this website you will be helping yourself, and very well could be helping many others.

One last thought – Its only a sin if God says it is, not the preacher, teacher, parent or anyone else. Conversely, those same people may tell you something is not a sin when in fact it is. If you'll read the Bible there won't be any doubts, and overcoming whatever challenges you face will be easier. Satan is no wimp are you?

Hustlers, cons, and thieves use the phrase "easy mark" to identify people they think they can easily take advantage or rip-off.  Christians are often thought of as easy marks.  But in spiritual giving it really doesn't matter what happens to the gift after it is given, for God sees your good deed and is pleased.  He will deal with the recipient  accordingly.  Ill-gotten gain is short lived.

About Intimidation

After I got out of high school, I went to a community college to learn computer programing at night while working during the days. My friends mostly went off to college and disappeared into life. I had this idea that a person with a college degree was in some way better than me, and became self – intimidated about it. After several years of working I finally got in a position where I could go to a university and get one of those 'college educations' that had haunted me for so long.

Before I got back into the formal education thing I learned a lot of street wise common sense, something many college grads never get. After two two-year associate degree programs at night I now wanted that four year degree. My friends commented that I was over compensating for being such a screw-up in high school. Well, I ended up with twelve years of college as an addiction to learning, leaving behind alternative addictions. With that experience I learned that a college education doesn't give anyone the right of intimidation , to anyone. Really, only very shallow, insecure people feel the need to attempt to dominate someone through intimidation.

My education was the fulfillment of a chosen addiction which I still have to this day. I have a passion for the adventure of learning. New skills, spiritual concepts, and personal pioneering of life is a great alternative to drugs, booze, and a host of other things I did in the past. There are still people who are more admired for the education quality or level of degree earned. I met such a person once and learned a great lesson about intimidation.

The house next door to mine sold and the new couple moved-in. They were from Germany and highly educated. The husband was a medical research surgeon professor and the wife also had the same credentials. She was  leaving town to do a fellowship study in another state ,leaving the husband at home alone. We became friends and would walk our dogs together discussing a variety of topics. This doctor told me how he had spent his whole life focused on his craft and had missed out on learning some things everyday Joe's would take for granted.  In the operating room this man was a great artist and surgeon/teacher, but when it came to handling many of the everyday chores, he was just a freshman in life. He once ran a stop sign and got smacked, when I asked him about it he said he had to think twice about the stop sign. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when he told me that.

The point is: no one is so knowledgeable that the intimater can not quickly become the intimidated. The next time someone tries to intimidate you by their conversation try this. Start talking about something the person would not know about, but you do. Don't ever think that because someone is acknowledged as smart it means they know everything. It is true that everybody is good at something. The biggest difference I can see between highly educated and the less educated is the perspective to complex issues. Education teaches that there is always more than one answer to any issue or problem. A person who was trained to do something one way, and believes that is the only way to do something right, is missing some of the benefits that higher education teaches. No matter how much education a person, has they will never be able to intimidate God, and if God lives in you then you will never be successfully intimidated. “Not a person who has ever lived, intimidated God's spirit”(SS). Either you have it or you don't. Pray for the good and strong spirit of God, into your life.

The Canary

There was a baby canary bird that while pitching a fit in it's nest fell out the nest on to the ground.

Now the canary really started crying and jumping around because it was cold and hungry.

An old cow heard the bird and turned around and dropped a cow poop right on him.

This warmed the little bird but he was still hungry so he continued to yell and scream.

A fox heard the bird, went over and picked the bird up out of the cow poop, cleaned him off, and ate him.

End of the Story.

So what's the moral of this story?

Not everyone that poops on you is your enemy.

Not everyone that gets you out of the poop is your friend.

When your up to your eyeballs in poop its best to keep your mouth shut.

(Well, I thought it was funny, and informative.)

There was this old man and a young boy walking down this long, rough and rocky road; leading their donkey behind them. During their journey they came upon several groups of people standing on the side of the road. When they came upon the first passersby, the people started ridiculing the old man, saying “Look at that old man making that young boy walk down this rough and rocky road, getting his feet all cut and bruised, why that donkey is plenty strong to carry that young boy”. So the old man put the young boy up on the donkey and continued on with their journey.

Further down the road, they came upon another group of passersby. This time these side liners started criticizing the young boy saying, “Look at that young boy making that old man lead that donkey down that rough and rocky road, why that young boy is strong and his feet are tough, he should let that old man ride on the donkey and the young boy should lead the donkey.” So the young boy got off the donkey and the old man got on the donkey, and once again they started making their way on down this rough and rocky road, with the young boy leading the way.

The day was long and hot, the road was rough and rocky but they continued on until they came upon another group of passersby. The comment this time suggested that the donkey was plenty strong to carry 'both' the tired young boy 'and' the old man. The young boy jumped up on the donkey, with the old man and off they went. They hadn't traveled very far before they encountered an old rickety bridge spanning over a fast moving river. As they approached the bridge they rode the donkey very carefully but only after several steps onto the bridge, the foot boards gave way; the old man, the young boy, and the donkey all plunged into the river. Well, the old man and the young boy swam safely to shore but the donkey was so tired from carrying all that weight that it was swiftly carried down river, and drown. And that's the end of the story.

The moral is: “Be careful who you listen to along the way, for you might end up losing your ass.”

(for those who may need clarification - donkey=ass=assets)

Will God Bless That   (SS)

As I sit here and fire up another home rolled smoke, I wonder, will God bless this?  As I pop the top on another high fructose soda, will God bless this?  Hammering down through life, is that what he wants?   The answer:  Jesus said "Go Fishing".  Luke 5:4

Not far from here there is a pristine body of water known as Greers Ferry Lake located in Heber Springs Arkansas.  If your a water baby, like me, this area is Tops.  Also, no mosquitoes here ever reported.  This lake is rated one of the cleanest in America due to its location in the Ozark Mountains without any pollution contributors in the area to defile the waters.  Below the dam is the Little Red River which currently holds the record for the Worlds Largest Trout Catch.  However, all I seem to catch is the pan size.

A buddy of mine owns a small resort up there with a few cabin lodges for sleeping and some other stuff to do, if you have a mind to go fishing or wandering in the area.  Name of his place is the Fat Possum Resort located in Heber Springs Arkansas.  If you do get up that way, please tell him I said howdy.

God wants you to enjoy every day of this life and if you will set you mind to it, it really can happen and be that way.  It's all about how you see things,  your way or God's way.  You chose.  If we live a life trying to do the right thing, God will protect you from the wrong things.  All you have to do is give him the chance. (If God brought you to it, God will take you through it.)

Here I am Jesus, talkin to you again, will you please let go, and forgive me, and my kin, of our sins, and put the power of your spirit in me and them, to be stronger longer, as we travel this road of life.  We are strong, but together with you, we are strongest.  Stay with us, Jesus, show us the way. Amen.

"I would have done better, if I had known better."  Many blessings are missed from lack of knowledge.  Read and learn God's Word, the Bible.
